1. Run your first scan

Go to health.nel404labs.co.za/sample.php and paste any publicly accessible URL into the scan box. You do not need an account for the free scan.

Tip: Always use the canonical version of your URL - with https:// and with or without www as your canonical form. Scanning both variants will yield slightly different results.

Click Scan now. You will see live progress as checks complete. Most results appear within 30 seconds; the full Lighthouse performance score follows in 60–90 seconds.

2. Reading the report

Overall score

The top of the report shows a composite score out of 100, aggregated across all six categories. Think of it as a general health indicator - it is useful for tracking trends, not for obsessing over a single number.

Category scores

Each of the six categories (Performance, SEO, Security, Accessibility, Mobile, Best Practices) gets its own score. Focus on your lowest-scoring category first - that is where you will get the most impact for the least effort.

Below the scores, every flagged issue includes:

3. Fixing your top findings

Start with Critical and High

Critical findings (shown in red) are things like missing HTTPS, mixed content, or broken canonical tags. These have a direct impact on SEO, security, or user trust. Fix these first.

High findings (amber) typically cover missing security headers, poor Lighthouse scores, or accessibility failures. These are addressable within a few hours of development time for most sites.
